Fiore di feltro - felt flower

Prima di tutto voglio ringraziare tutte le persone che mi hanno fatto i complimenti per questo mio esperimento con il feltro, si tratta proprio di un esperimento e voglio dire a tutte quelle che "...ah come vorrei anch'io!" che trattasi di un lavoro da superprincipianti! In ogni caso una scrapper d'oltreoceano mi ha chiesto di darle qualche spiegazione (template incluso) per cui eccomi qui sperando che questi elementari rudimenti possano tornare utili a tutte quelle che hanno voglia di provarci e scoprire che in fondo è molto più facile di quello che sembra!

Nb: una scrapper americana mi ha chiesto perchè non traducessi i miei posts... il mio inglese used to be quite good ma sono un po' fuori forma oramai, in ogni caso cercherò di tradurre as good as I can! Si prega di non badare ad eventuali strafalcioni...

• pannolenci
• cotone lanato

Cominciamo dal template, qui ci sono sagome per due progetti diversi, giusto per farvi un esempio delle infinite variabili.

La scelta dei colori sta a voi, le stesse sagome cambiano totalmente effetto a seconda dell'accostamento di colore per cui scegliete le tonalità che prefrite e ritagliate (è la parte meno divertente, lo ammetto!). Se usate il panno lenci sottile, come ho fatto io, e volete fare una spilla, come me, ritagliate due sagome grandi da cucire insieme, per dare consistenza al lavoro. Se invece dovete usare il fiore in una pagina scrap lavorate con i materiali più leggeri in modo che lo spessore eccessivo non vi dia fastidio nell'album.
Adesso munitevi di cotone lanato o lana del colore che preferite e cominciate a ricamare!

Queste sono le sagome ricamate e cucite (ho usato punto filza, nodini, punto a giorno). Inutile dire che possono essere impreziosite con perline, pallettes e strass, non ci sono limiti alla fantasia.

First of all I have to say thank you to all the friends and scrappers that flattered me with nice comments on my felt experiment! It is an experiment in fact, and I wish to tell everyone who thinks "I wish I could do it" that it is, truely, a beginner project! Anyway, as a friend from oversea asked me to explain her "how-to-do-it" I gladly post a quick tutorial (templates included, dear!) and it will be soon clear that it is a beginner project indeed!

You need:

• felt
• thread

Start using my template to cut your felt shapes. Here I provided a flower and a paisley templates , just as an example, you can choose you custom made shapes, of course!

Choose the colors carefully, they really make the difference.

Cut your shapes (the most boring part, I know!). If you use the thin felt, as I did, and you intend to make a brooch, as I did, cut the big shape twice to stitch together, it will look nice and strong. If you want to use your flower in a layout as I did then the thinner the better!

In the last photo you can see how the shapes look once sewn and assembled (I used very simple stitches like blanket stitch, knots etc). Obviously you can make your work look richer by using beads, gems, pailletts etc. Enjoy!
